Zhilei Zhang Expresses Confidence Before Critical Heavyweight Match Against Agit Kabayel

Chinese heavyweight contender Zhilei Zhang has declared his readiness for a potential 12-round battle with undefeated German boxer Agit Kabayel in their upcoming clash. The fight, scheduled for this Saturday, carries significant implications for both fighters’ careers.

Zhang, a former Olympic silver medalist with a professional record of 27-2 (22 KOs), is coming off an impressive knockout victory over Deontay Wilder last June. His only two defeats have been narrow decision losses to Joseph Parker and Filip Hrgovic.

The stakes are high for this bout, as the victor will claim the WBC interim heavyweight title, moving closer to a world championship opportunity. For Zhang, a win would also bring him nearer to his aspiration of bringing major boxing events to China.

At 41 years old, Zhang’s stamina has been questioned in the past, especially in the later rounds of fights. However, the Chinese southpaw dismissed these concerns in a recent interview, stating, “Stamina has never been and will never be an issue for me. If necessary, I can go the full 12 rounds and win on points. But I believe I’ll find an opportunity to knock him out within that time.”

Zhang also expressed respect for Kabayel’s abilities, acknowledging his opponent’s victories over Frank Sanchez and Arslanbek Makhmudov. Nevertheless, he remained confident in his own power, describing himself as a “bomb” that Kabayel will have to contend with.

As the fight approaches, Zhang appears relaxed and focused, emphasizing that the hard work of training is behind him and now it’s time to enjoy the competition. Boxing fans around the world eagerly await this clash of heavyweight contenders and its potential impact on the division’s landscape.
