British cruiserweight champion Viddal Riley has stated his interest in a potential domestic showdown with Aloys Junior, while also aiming for a position on the undercard of the anticipated rematch between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn.

The 27-year-old boxer secured his Lonsdale Belt in April with a decisive performance, overcoming Tokyo Olympian Cheavon Clarke via a unanimous decision.

Earlier wins against opponents like Mikael Lawal and Nathan Quarless have further cemented his standing in the UK cruiserweight division.

Looking ahead, Riley, who holds a record of 13 wins and 0 losses with 7 knockouts, has identified the powerful prospect Junior (10-1, 9 KOs) as a potential next opponent, showing no reluctance to face the outspoken fighter.

Junior recently achieved a third-round stoppage victory over David Jamieson. This win not only earned him the vacant Commonwealth title but, crucially, made him the mandatory challenger for Riley’s British title.

Following his impressive finish, the 22-year-old Junior promptly challenged the London-based Riley, insisting he is prepared for the significant step up in competition.

In response, Riley has not only welcomed the challenge but also proposed that their potential fight could take place on the undercard of Eubank-Benn 2.

Although an official announcement is pending, a rematch clause from their initial contract suggests Eubank and Benn are likely preparing for a second encounter scheduled for September.

Given that Riley`s victory over Clarke was featured on the undercard of the first Eubank-Benn fight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, the skilled boxer believes his matchup with Junior would be another compelling addition later this year.

“Despite [Junior] having the Commonwealth title, he’s my mandatory [challenger],” Riley commented on talkSPORT. “I have an obligation to fight him. A responsibility of being a champion is to eliminate challengers.

“He’s earned the right to fight me; I’m more than willing to fight him and, if it can happen next, then let’s make it happen next.”

“I think it’s a perfect fight to be [on the undercard of] an alleged rematch between Eubank and Benn. That would be a nice card to have a British and Commonwealth [title feature].”
