Longtime UFC fighter Vinc Pichel has announced his retirement from professional mixed martial arts competition.
Pichel, who confirmed his decision via social media, is stepping away from the sport at the age of 42 following a career that spanned 12 fights within the Ultimate Fighting Championship. His fighting tenure concluded after suffering three consecutive losses, with his final bout being a decision defeat to Rafa Garcia at UFC Mexico in March.
In a candid post on Instagram, Pichel shared a mix of emotions regarding his retirement, acknowledging feelings of sadness, excitement, happiness, and fear. He expressed profound gratitude towards everyone who supported him throughout his career, emphasizing that their contribution allowed a “kid from California” to achieve his goals in the sport.
Looking forward, Pichel indicated he plans to remain active on his social media platforms and is contemplating writing a book about his extensive MMA journey, potentially including previously unseen photos and videos.
He ended his retirement announcement by offering a piece of advice: “Do what feels right, don’t apologize for being you, learn what you can from who you can, no regrets and most importantly, have fun!”
Pichel first gained recognition as a cast member on Season 15 of The Ultimate Fighter reality show. After an initial loss in his official UFC debut, he established a strong record, winning seven of his subsequent eight fights, highlighted by a decision victory over seasoned veteran Jim Miller in 2020.
Known by his moniker “From Hell,” Vinc Pichel compiled a UFC record of 7 wins against 5 losses. His last win inside the Octagon came against Austin Hubbard in August 2021.
