The complete fight lineup for UFC Vegas 106 has been officially revealed. The event, scheduled for May 17 at the UFC APEX facility in Las Vegas, will be headlined by a welterweight clash between Gilbert Burns and Michael Morales.
Initially slated for UFC 315 a week earlier, the Burns vs. Morales bout was shifted to become the main event for this UFC Fight Night card. This pairing is noteworthy as the two fighters are currently trending in different directions based on their recent performances.
Gilbert Burns, a consistent presence near the top of the 170-pound rankings in recent years, is currently facing a challenging streak with three consecutive losses. However, it`s important to note that these defeats came against the division`s absolute elite: current champion Belal Muhammad, top contender Jack Della Maddalena, and the highly-ranked Sean Brady.
Looking to return to winning ways, Burns is tasked with being the first to defeat the undefeated prospect Michael Morales. Morales boasts a perfect professional record of 17 wins and 0 losses, including an impressive five straight victories inside the UFC octagon.
In his most recent outing last August, Morales delivered a highlight-reel performance, securing a first-round knockout victory over veteran welterweight Neil Magny. This dominant finish also earned him a Performance of the Night bonus.
The co-featured fight on the card will take place in the light heavyweight division, marking Paul Craig`s return to 205 pounds against opponent Rodolfo Bellato.
Following a brief venture into the middleweight division, Craig is moving back to light heavyweight, where he has spent the majority of his career. His history in the division includes a notable victory over the current light heavyweight champion, Magomed Ankalaev.
Rodolfo Bellato enters this fight with an impressive finishing rate, having secured 11 stoppages out of his 12 career victories. In his UFC appearances, he holds a win over Ihor Potieria from his debut and fought to a draw with Jimmy Crute in his subsequent bout.
