UFC Kansas City has experienced a significant change in its lineup.
According to official records, Ahmad Hassanzada was arrested in Sacramento, California on Saturday. The arrest is related to allegations of sexual misconduct against a minor. Hassanzada is facing two felony charges, including engaging in lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years old.
News of the arrest was initially reported.
Hassanzada is currently detained in Sacramento County Jail with bail set at $400,000. His court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday morning, as per official records.
The 28-year-old fighter was originally slated to compete against Evan Elder at Saturday`s Fight Night event. Following his arrest, UFC announced that newcomer Gauge Young will now replace Hassanzada and face Elder.
Hassanzada secured his UFC contract after winning against Dylan Mantello by submission in the third round on Dana White`s Contender Series last September. Born in Afghanistan, the lightweight fighter had previously participated in DWCS two years prior, where he lost to Nazim Sadykhov in August 2022. However, he rebounded with a record of 3 wins and 1 loss in his subsequent four fights.
UFC officials have confirmed that Hassanzada is no longer under contract with the organization. His release was initially reported.
