Kamaru Usman is poised to make his ascent back to the summit of the welterweight division.

The former champion, who held the UFC`s 170-pound belt from 2019 to 2022, successfully hit the scales at 171 pounds on Friday morning for his main event showdown against Joaquin Buckley at UFC Atlanta. This weigh-in utilized the one-pound allowance permitted for non-title fights. The bout marks Usman`s first appearance in the welterweight category since March 2023, when he was defeated by rival Leon Edwards in their trilogy fight, failing to reclaim the title.

Joaquin Buckley also made weight for Saturday`s headliner, coming in at 171 pounds. Since moving down from the middleweight division, Buckley has been on an impressive tear, securing six consecutive victories, including notable wins over seasoned contenders like Colby Covington and Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. He is currently ranked No. 7 in the welterweight standings.

The co-main event is also confirmed, with Rose Namajunas and Miranda Maverick both weighing in successfully at 126 pounds. Namajunas, a two-time champion at 115 pounds and a ranked pound-for-pound fighter (No. 13), is looking to solidify her position in the flyweight title picture by overcoming the surging Maverick, who enters the fight on a four-fight win streak.

All 26 fighters scheduled to compete at UFC Atlanta successfully made their required weight. However, middleweight Mansur Abdul-Malik provided a brief moment of uncertainty during the proceedings.

Abdul-Malik was the final fighter to weigh in and initially registered one pound over the 185-pound limit. With less than 10 minutes remaining in the official weigh-in window, Abdul-Malik exited the stage, quickly returned, and successfully made the 186-pound limit under the cover of a screen.
