Ricky Simon remains on the card for UFC Atlanta this Saturday.
Multiple sources familiar with the promotion`s plans have confirmed that Simon will now face short-notice opponent Cameron Smotherman on the Fight Night card. Smotherman steps in on short notice after Charles Jourdain was forced to withdraw due to an eye injury. Eurosport was the first outlet to report this late change to the lineup.
The 27-year-old Smotherman is taking his second fight in as many months and making his third appearance inside the Octagon. In his UFC debut, Smotherman secured a unanimous decision victory over Jake Hadley, but he subsequently suffered a loss in his second promotional bout against Serhiy Sidey.
Simon, a veteran of the bantamweight division, recently broke a three-fight losing streak with an impressive upset submission victory over Javid Basharat earlier this year. The 32-year-old is scheduled for his 15th walk to the Octagon and is aiming for his 10th win under the UFC banner.
The UFC Atlanta event is headlined by a significant welterweight showdown featuring former divisional kingpin Kamaru Usman as he makes his return to competition against the dangerous and surging contender Joaquin Buckley.
