The main card for UFC 316 has been confirmed.
In just four weeks, the UFC will return to Newark for UFC 316. This pay-per-view event will once again feature two title fights. The main event is a bantamweight title rematch: champion Merab Dvalishvili will face the fighter he took the belt from, Sean O’Malley. “Suga” has not competed since his loss to Dvalishvili but has been granted an immediate title shot. Dvalishvili made his first successful defense in January, winning a unanimous decision against Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC 311.
In the co-main event, women`s bantamweight champion Julianna Peña, who recently reclaimed her title, will defend it against two-time PFL champion Kayla Harrison. Peña won the belt with a split decision victory over Raquel Pennington at UFC 307. Harrison has a 2-0 record in the UFC and, in her last bout also at UFC 307, defeated Ketlen Vieira via unanimous decision. It is expected that the winner of this fight will welcome the women`s MMA GOAT Amanda Nunes back to the cage if she decides to return from her two-year hiatus.
Also on the main card, middleweight standout Kelvin Gastelum will square off against rising prospect Joe Pyfer. Former bantamweight title challenger Marlon Vera will take on fellow Top 10-ranked fighter Mario Bautista. A welterweight clash between Vicente Luque and Kevin Holland will open the main card.
UFC 316 is scheduled for June 7, with the main card airing live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
