UFC 316: Kayla Harrison Huge Favorite Against Julianna Pena

Sports news » UFC 316: Kayla Harrison Huge Favorite Against Julianna Pena

Kayla Harrison is entering her first UFC title fight as a massive favorite to become champion at UFC 316.

UFC CEO Dana White announced earlier this week that Harrison will challenge Julianna Peña for the bantamweight title. This fight is set as the co-main event for UFC 316 on June 7 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

According to FanDuel, Harrison is listed as a -590 favorite to win the 135-pound championship. Peña is a significant underdog at +370 for her first title defense. These odds suggest Harrison has an 85.5 percent chance of defeating Peña. A $100 bet on Peña would win $370 if she is victorious.

Peña is used to being a big underdog. She achieved a major upset in UFC title history when she defeated Amanda Nunes to win her first belt at UFC 269 in December 2021. “The Venezuelan Vixen” was a +700 underdog in that fight.

Harrison will be making her third appearance in the octagon after a successful 15-1 record in the PFL. In her UFC debut at UFC 300 a year ago, the two-time PFL champion defeated Holly Holm. She then won a decision against Ketlen Vieira at UFC 307 in October—the same event where Peña regained her title by defeating Raquel Pennington by decision.
