Marlon Vera and Mario Bautista will still fight, but their match has been rescheduled to UFC 316.
The UFC announced the bantamweight fight between Vera and Bautista is now part of UFC 316, happening on June 7th in Newark, New Jersey. It was originally planned for UFC Des Moines on May 3rd, but the reason for the change is unknown.
UFC 316`s main event is the bantamweight title rematch between Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley. The co-main event features Kayla Harrison challenging Julianna Peña for the women`s bantamweight title.
“Chito” Vera will make his first appearance in 2025 after a tough 2024. He recently fought for the bantamweight title at UFC 299 against O’Malley, losing by decision. Before that, he lost to Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC Abu Dhabi last August.
Mario Bautista comes into this fight with a strong seven-win streak. His last fight was a debated split decision victory over former featherweight champion Jose Aldo at UFC 307 in October.
The UFC also announced a light heavyweight bout between Johnny Walker and Azamat Murzakanov for UFC 316.
