Belal Muhammad will make his first welterweight title defense against Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315, which takes place on May 10 in Montreal, Canada. This unexpected matchup will now serve as the main event.

Adding to the excitement, Valentina Shevchenko will defend her flyweight championship against Manon Fiorot in the co-main event, a highly anticipated five-round fight. The event will also feature a compelling welterweight clash between Gilbert Burns and Michael Morales.

UFC CEO Dana White announced these fight bookings in a recent social media video.

Muhammad’s fight against Della Maddalena came about after the UFC’s initial plan to feature Shavkat Rakhmonov in the main event fell through due to Rakhmonov’s injury.

This change led to Della Maddalena stepping into the title fight, which in turn removed him from his previously scheduled main event at UFC London against Leon Edwards. Edwards will now compete against Sean Brady at UFC London.

Muhammad is returning to competition for his first title defense after recovering from a foot injury that forced him to withdraw from a fight last December. He will now face the undefeated Jack Della Maddalena, who boasts a perfect 7-0 record in the UFC.

In the co-main event, Valentina Shevchenko moves forward from her previous bouts with Alexa Grasso to defend her flyweight title against Manon Fiorot. Fiorot enters this title fight on a seven-fight win streak in the UFC, including notable victories over Erin Blanchfield and Rose Namajunas.

UFC 315 is scheduled for May 10 at the Bell Centre in Montreal and will be broadcast live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
