UFC 313 Loses One Fight Shortly Before Event

Sports news » UFC 313 Loses One Fight Shortly Before Event

The UFC 313 event, headlined by the anticipated Alex Pereira versus Magomed Ankalaev match, has been impacted by a late cancellation.

Officials from the UFC announced that John Castaneda had to withdraw from his scheduled featherweight bout against Chris Gutierrez due to illness. Consequently, their fight has been called off.

This cancellation, combined with the earlier removal of the Curtis Blaydes versus Rizvan Kuniev fight due to Blaydes’ illness, means the UFC 313 pay-per-view event will now proceed with a total of ten fights.

Castaneda was previously scheduled to compete at UFC Vegas 103 the previous week, but his fight was also cancelled when his opponent, Douglas Silva de Andrade, faced a medical issue. Castaneda, known as “Sexi Mexi,” was hoping to recover from a previous loss to Daniel Marcos in his last fight.

Chris Gutierrez, known as “El Guapo,” will now have to wait longer for his next appearance in the octagon. He was originally set to fight Jean Matsumoto on this card, but Matsumoto was moved to UFC Seattle and lost a decision to Rob Font.

Here is the updated fight lineup for UFC 313:
