The Gutierrez vs. Castaneda match will be contested at 145 pounds due to the short notice nature of the agreement.
Originally, Gutierrez was preparing to fight Jean Matsumoto, but Matsumoto was reassigned to UFC Seattle. Gutierrez, holding a strong record of 9 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw in his last 12 fights, aims to improve his bantamweight ranking after his recent victory over Quang Le in August.
Castaneda was previously scheduled to compete at UFC Vegas 103, but his opponent, Douglas Silva de Andrade, was unable to compete due to medical reasons. Castaneda is looking to rebound from a decision loss to Daniel Marcos in June.
