Featherweight contender Sodiq Yusuff is slated to make his return to active competition after more than a year away from the sport.

Sources familiar with the promotion’s event planning have verified that Yusuff is scheduled to compete against Mairon Santos at the upcoming UFC Vegas 106 card. This event is set to take place on May 17 at the UFC APEX facility located in Las Vegas.

The matchup is scheduled to be contested in the lightweight division. This weight class was determined partly due to the fight being booked on relatively short notice, although Yusuff has also recently suggested via social media that a permanent move to the lightweight category might be in his future plans.

Yusuff`s last octagon appearance was exactly one year ago at the milestone UFC 300 event. In that bout, he was defeated by a first-round stoppage against emerging featherweight contender Diego Lopes. Currently, “Super” is looking to snap a two-fight losing skid, which also includes a decision loss he suffered against veteran Edson Barboza in the main event of UFC Vegas 81 back in October 2023.

For Mairon Santos, this fight represents a move up in weight class. Santos is the champion of *The Ultimate Fighter season 32* and has been victorious in his initial two outings inside the UFC cage. His most recent win came via a split decision against Francis Marshall at UFC 313 in March.

The UFC Vegas 106 event is expected to feature a headlining welterweight encounter between former title challenger Gilbert Burns and undefeated prospect Michael Morales.
