British boxing trainer Shane McGuigan hasn’t dismissed the possibility of a future fight between the promising Adam Azim and Harlem Eubank.

A match at 143lbs was previously planned but cancelled due to Azim’s ankle injury.

After recovering, Azim (13-0, 10 KOs) defeated Ohara Davies in October, securing an eighth-round TKO victory. He followed this with another dominant win last month against Sergey Lipinets, a former world champion.

Eubank (20-0, 8 KOs) has since moved to welterweight after a year of inactivity, returning with a win last November.

He faces a tougher challenge this Friday against Tyrone McKenna in Brighton, England.

Azim is expected to return to the ring around May or June after Ramadan. Trainer McGuigan is exploring options for his next opponent, with plans to keep Azim at super-lightweight, making an Eubank fight less probable currently.

However, McGuigan stated to , “If Eubank wants to drop back to 140lbs, a fight is definitely possible. It was actually considered for the [Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn] card. But each fighter has their own team and plans.”

McGuigan added, “Despite being 31 and a natural 140lb fighter, Eubank wants to move up to welterweight, which is his choice. I believe Eubank is unlikely to become a superstar at his age and career stage, and he should have taken the Azim fight.”
