Sean Brady Takes on Leon Edwards in Highly Anticipated UFC London Headliner
In an unexpected turn of events, Sean Brady has been selected to face former welterweight champion Leon Edwards in the main event of UFC London on March 22 at the O2 Arena. This last-minute change presents Brady with the most significant opportunity of his professional career.
The UFC made the announcement on Wednesday evening, revealing that Brady would be replacing Jack Della Maddalena in the headline bout. Della Maddalena has been reassigned to challenge Belal Muhammad for the 170-pound title at UFC 315 in May, as confirmed by UFC CEO Dana White.
Brady’s recent performances have been impressive, despite suffering his only professional loss to Muhammad in October 2022. He bounced back with a dominant victory over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Austin in December 2023 and secured a one-sided decision win against Gilbert Burns in the main event of UFC Vegas 97 last September.
This fight marks Edwards’ return to the octagon following his welterweight championship loss to Muhammad at UFC 304 in July. Prior to that defeat, Edwards had enjoyed a remarkable 12-fight winning streak, which included claiming the title and successfully defending it twice against Kamaru Usman, as well as a commanding victory over Colby Covington in his second title defense.
