Despite retiring from professional fighting, Ronda Rousey, a former UFC champion and Hall of Famer, is proving she still possesses the skills that made her a global MMA icon.
Following the birth of her second daughter, Rousey has committed to publicly sharing her fitness journey. This is a departure from her experience after her first child with husband and fellow UFC veteran Travis Browne, when she kept her postpartum body private. Rousey now aims to inspire others by openly documenting her progress.
Rousey shared on Instagram her past insecurities about sharing postpartum photos, fearing unfair comparisons to her fight-ready physique. She now realizes her self-criticism was unwarranted and expresses pride in regaining her fitness.
“This time I’m going to try and be a little more brave and not go through this journey in secret but share it in hopes it helps anyone out there going through something similar,” Rousey stated.
In a recent video, Rousey is seen engaging in martial arts training, including focus mitt drills and grappling sessions with former opponent Cat Zingano.
Rousey famously defeated Zingano in a rapid 14-second victory at UFC 184, defending her bantamweight title with a swift armbar submission.
The video highlights Rousey’s grappling expertise as she thanks Zingano for training with her, remarking on how much she had missed the enjoyment of it.
Although back in training, Rousey has affirmed that her fighting career is over, citing her history of concussions as the primary reason for retiring from both MMA and professional wrestling.
