The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has announced that the first PFL Europe event of 2025 will be headlined by a lightweight bout between Paul Hughes and Bruno Miranda. The event is scheduled for May 10th in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Paul Hughes, a 27-year-old fighter from Ireland, has quickly become a prominent figure in the PFL. He impressed with a victory over AJ McKee Jr. in his promotional debut and then faced 155-pound champion Usman Nurmagomedov in a closely contested match this past January, losing by majority decision.

Known as “Big News,” Hughes is a former featherweight champion in Cage Warriors and boasts a professional record of 13 wins and 2 losses. Before his fight with Nurmagomedov, he was on a seven-fight winning streak, including three finishes since moving up to the lightweight division.

Bruno Miranda, nicknamed “Robusto,” has a record of 17 wins and 5 losses. In his last PFL appearance in June 2024, he secured a split-decision victory against former Bellator lightweight champion Patricky Pitbull. This win helped him recover from previous losses to Olivier Aubin-Mercier and Brent Primus. Miranda was recognized as a top Brazilian prospect in 2021 and has won eight of his last ten fights, with half of those wins coming by way of stoppage.

The Belfast event will also mark the beginning of the 2025 PFL Europe tournaments. Winners of these tournaments will be awarded $100,000 later in the year.

PFL CEO Pete Murray commented on the event, stating, “The strong fan support for Paul made this an obvious choice for the main event. I am eager to experience the electric atmosphere of The SSE Arena. We are planning a stacked card featuring PFL Europe tournament fighters and other athletes ready to give it their all and deliver an exciting show. Belfast, get ready for tickets, we anticipate a truly historic event.”
