Sports news » Patchy Mix Signs with UFC, Debuts Against Mario Bautista at UFC 316

Patchy Mix, widely regarded as one of the top bantamweight fighters outside the UFC, has officially joined the promotion`s roster.

The former Bellator champion recently secured his release from the PFL and quickly found a new home in the Octagon.

Mix isn`t wasting any time making his presence felt, as he is slated to face Mario Bautista at UFC 316, scheduled for June 7th in Newark, New Jersey.

The announcement of Mix`s signing and debut fight was made public during the UFC Vegas 106 broadcast.

Patchy Mix brings an impressive professional record of 20 wins and just 1 loss, with 15 of his victories coming by way of finish. During his successful run in Bellator, he defeated notable fighters including Kyoji Horiguchi, Magomed Magomedov, Sergio Pettis, and Raufeon Stots.

He is currently riding a seven-fight winning streak. This streak includes capturing the Bellator bantamweight title and successfully defending it in his most recent outing.

Mix had previously voiced concerns regarding his prolonged inactivity while signed with PFL, which ultimately led to him requesting his release. PFL complied with his request, issuing a statement confirming they would not extend his contract and that he was free to sign with any other organization.

Following his release, it took very little time for Mix to finalize a deal with the UFC. He immediately steps into a significant matchup against Bautista, filling in after Marlon “Chito” Vera was forced to withdraw from the card due to injury.

Mario Bautista enters this contest on a strong seven-fight win streak of his own, which features a split decision win over former UFC champion Jose Aldo. Bautista will be looking to provide a stern test and a difficult welcome for Mix`s first fight under the UFC banner.

The UFC 316 event is set to feature several high-profile bouts, including two championship contests: a bantamweight title rematch between champion Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley, and Julianna Pena challenging two-time Olympic gold medalist Kayla Harrison for the women`s bantamweight strap.
