Paige VanZant Set for Historic Power Slap Title Bout

Sports news » Paige VanZant Set for Historic Power Slap Title Bout

Paige VanZant`s desire for a championship opportunity is being granted.

The accomplished veteran of both UFC and BKFC is slated to compete in what will be the first women`s title fight in Power Slap history. Her upcoming appearance is scheduled for June 27th in Las Vegas, as part of International Fight Week activities.

VanZant is set to face Mikael-Michelle Brown in a rematch. This contest will crown the inaugural Power Slap women’s flyweight champion. The event is scheduled to take place at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas, occurring just one day prior to UFC 317 at T-Mobile Arena.

In their previous encounter, VanZant emerged victorious with a dominant performance, evidenced by 30-27 scores from all judges. Following that win, she publicly called for a title shot in Power Slap.

After securing her victory, VanZant declared: “Hey Dana [White], where’s that [125-pound] belt, baby? Put me on the next card. Let’s get some women’s belts. We’re here to stay. We’re here to knock bitches out and slap people all day.”

Her initial decision to sign with Power Slap was seen as somewhat unexpected, given her background competing in the UFC and her subsequent move to bare-knuckle fighting with BKFC. She won her debut match in Power Slap, but her second outing resulted in a draw after an illegal strike occurred.

VanZant then secured another win in her third Power Slap match back in March, which is the event where she made her request for a future championship opportunity.

Now, the 31-year-old fighter will have the chance to add a title to her combat sports achievements, with the Power Slap championship bout confirmed for June.
