Paige VanZant, known for her UFC career and current involvement in Power Slap, is making her major film debut alongside Bryce Hall, a social media personality and bare-knuckle fighting enthusiast, in the upcoming horror film `Skillhouse`.
Produced by Ryan Kavanaugh`s GenTV Productions, `Skillhouse` is scheduled for a nationwide release on July 11th through Fathom Entertainment, as initially reported by Deadline.
The movie features Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in a leading role and is directed by Josh Stolberg, recognized for his work on horror franchises like `Saw` (including `Saw X` and `Jigsaw`) and `Piranha 3D`.
Described as a “social media nightmare,” the film centers around ten influencers who are lured into a dangerous content house. They are forced to participate in deadly social media challenges where their online clout becomes a matter of life and death.
Kavanaugh, whose production credits include acclaimed films such as `The Social Network,` `The Fighter,` and `Mamma Mia!`, is also known in the fight world as the former owner of Triller, the parent company of BKFC.
Kavanaugh stated that `Skillhouse` is a groundbreaking and thrilling film, relevant to social media users and horror fans alike. He emphasized the film`s innovative approach of integrating social media influencers into the storyline and expressed GenTV`s excitement about partnering with Fathom for a special theatrical release.
For VanZant, this role marks her first significant foray into film after gaining prominence in the UFC and later signing a lucrative deal with BKFC. She has recently been active in the Power Slap league.
Hall plays a central character in `Skillhouse,` with parts of the movie filmed at the Sway House, a location where he and other prominent social media influencers initially gained fame.
`Skillhouse` is set to premiere in theaters on the same day as the highly anticipated `Superman` film by James Gunn.
