Sports news ยป Oleksandr Usyk Extends Invitation to Donald Trump to Visit Ukraine Amidst LA Protests

Heavyweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk has invited former US President Donald Trump to his home in Ukraine, urging him to fulfill his past pledge to end the ongoing conflict.

Usyk is currently deep in preparation for his rematch against Daniel Dubois, scheduled for July 19th at Wembley Stadium in London.

Despite his rigorous training schedule, Usyk, who holds a perfect record of 23 wins with 14 by knockout, took the opportunity to express his disappointment concerning Donald Trump`s actions and statements.

During his presidential campaign, Trump controversially claimed he could stop the war in Ukraine within just 24 hours if he were to return to the White House.

However, this assertion has not materialized, leading to significant frustration among Ukrainians who are actively defending their nation against the invasion.

Adding to the tension, Trump was perceived as publicly criticizing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in February, a figure seen as a symbol of hope and resistance on the front lines.

Nevertheless, Usyk remains determined to try and shift the former president`s perspective, driven by an urgent desire to advocate for his country.

Speaking to CNN, Usyk conveyed his message directly:

“Donald Trump, please open your eyes, help my people.”

He continued:

“He should be held accountable for the words he spoke. He stated that he would stop this war in a month or even a day. He is not being responsible for his claims. Why does he speak like this?”

Usyk went on to extend a personal invitation:

“I am offering him my home. Let him come to Ukraine. I will provide my house and my security personnel. I will ensure his complete safety.”

He added:

“Let him live in my house for a week and experience firsthand how rockets fly over it and witness how people are living in Ukraine.”

Usyk`s impassioned plea for greater international attention and support comes at a time when Trump has been outspoken regarding recent protests that have occurred in Los Angeles.

These demonstrations were prompted by immigration enforcement activities in the city, including arrests aimed at detaining and deporting migrants.

Trump has publicly supported strong measures in response to such protests.

Against this backdrop of domestic debate in the U.S. and Trump`s stance on various issues, Usyk persists in his efforts to highlight and bring an end to the war in Ukraine, which has now been ongoing for more than three years.
