Oleksandr Usyk Comments on Daniel Dubois Challenge Before Joseph Parker Fight
Heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has addressed the possibility of an undisputed title fight against the winner of the upcoming Daniel Dubois vs Joseph Parker bout.
The two hard-hitting heavyweights are set to clash in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this Saturday, as part of the undercard for the Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol rematch.
Dubois, with a record of 22-2 (21 KOs), is coming off an impressive fifth-round TKO victory over Anthony Joshua last September. He aims to make another strong defense of his IBF world heavyweight title.
Meanwhile, former world champion Parker, 35-3 (23 KOs), is riding a wave of success after recent decision wins over Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang. Under the guidance of former middleweight champion Andy Lee, Parker has revitalized his career and improved his overall boxing skills.
Dubois, confident in his abilities, has already set his sights on Usyk, calling him out last December following Usyk’s second victory over Tyson Fury. The two fighters previously met in 2023, with Usyk securing a ninth-round stoppage in a masterful performance.
While Usyk, 23-0 (14 KOs), is open to a rematch with Dubois, he found the British fighter’s callout disrespectful. Recalling the incident, Usyk told Sky Sports, “I thought: ‘What are you doing here? This is my place.’ After the fight [Dubois said:] ‘Hey, listen, I want rematch…’ Just say good job [for beating Fury].”
Regarding the upcoming Dubois-Parker fight, Usyk shared his team’s prediction: “52 percent is for Dubois, 48 percent is Joseph Parker.” The Ukrainian champion appears to slightly favor Dubois in the matchup but acknowledges it will be a close contest.
