Nate Diaz, the popular fighter, recently found himself in the midst of conflict once again.
His latest endeavor took him to Thailand to participate in a reality television series alongside UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones, designed in a format similar to The Ultimate Fighter. Unfortunately, the production encountered a significant issue on its very first day when a dispute involving Diaz and one of the contestants escalated into a physical altercation, causing filming to cease unexpectedly.
Diaz subsequently published a video blog (vlog) on his YouTube channel, offering a glimpse behind the scenes of his time in Thailand. The footage included his initial meeting with Jones and visuals related to the subsequent brawl.
In a pre-show interview conducted alongside Jones, Diaz conveyed his uncertainty about the situation. “I don`t know,” he remarked. “I don`t know what I got into. I just arrived, and they were already going at each other. I`ve been on The Ultimate Fighter, so I expect it to be quite intense.”
Despite the brawl not resulting in serious injuries, Diaz and his team chose to withdraw from the show. They then continued their travels, visiting other parts of Thailand before heading to Hong Kong.
Diaz briefly addressed the incident, expressing his dissatisfaction and suggesting that he was provoked by others involved.
Regarding the confrontation, Diaz stated: “Came out to do a little reality show with Jon Jones. I was looking forward to hanging out with Jones and the team and everybody and it didn’t work out because they are the opponents/enemies. We aren`t dealing with any of those Russians. Anyway, they aren`t dealing with me, so that`s how it is.”
Now 40 years old, Diaz is currently taking a break from competition while he plans his next steps. His last appearance in the UFC was in September 2022, securing a submission victory over Tony Ferguson in the final fight of his contract. Following his departure from the UFC, he transitioned into professional boxing.
In his professional boxing debut, Diaz suffered a unanimous decision loss to Jake Paul. However, he rebounded in July with a decision win against fellow former UFC competitor Jorge Masvidal.
