Nasrat Haqparast may have gained a significant scar after his recent match with Esteban Ribovics.
However, any pain was likely overshadowed by Haqparast’s victory at UFC Vegas 103 on Saturday. In a three-round fight, Haqparast defeated Ribovics by split decision, but he also sustained considerable swelling and a deep cut under his left eye. Following the event, Dr. Greg Hsu, a UFC physician, shared graphic before-and-after images of Haqparast’s injury.
Along with the unsettling photos showing the doctor’s stitching work, Dr. Hsu recounted an admirable story about Haqparast inviting his opponent and their coaches to a post-fight dinner to celebrate together.
“While stitching up Nasrat Haqparast, he asked his coaches to invite his opponent and as many of them as possible to dinner,” Hsu mentioned. “Nasrat has a truly kind heart.”
This is certainly a commendable act of sportsmanship after a fierce battle in the octagon, which earned both fighters a $50,000 bonus for Fight of the Night.
This win marks Haqparast’s fifth straight victory, representing his longest winning streak since joining the UFC in 2017.
