Katie Taylor`s distinguished career might feature not one, but potentially two trilogy fights. On July 11th, the 38-year-old is scheduled to headline an all-female event at the famous Madison Square Garden, aiming for a third consecutive victory over her rival, Amanda Serrano.
MVP is promoting this event, which showcases several recent additions to their roster, notably Chantelle Cameron (20-1, 8 KOs). Cameron, the former undisputed super-lightweight champion who previously worked with Matchroom and Queensberry, joined MVP just last month. She is slated to defend her WBC Interim title for the second time against former lightweight contender Jessica Camara as part of the July 11th lineup.
Chantelle Cameron holds the distinction of being the sole fighter to have defeated Katie Taylor (24-1, 6 KOs), ending Taylor`s perfect record with a points win at Dublin`s 3Arena in May 2023. Taylor successfully avenged that defeat six months later, inflicting Cameron`s first professional loss. As the series currently stands at 1-1, MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian expressed his belief that a third encounter is bound to happen.
“I think win or lose Katie Taylor should fight Chantelle Cameron again,” Bidarian stated, according to Sky Sports.
“They`re 1-1. Amanda and Katie technically are 2-0 but very close fights that many people thought on both occasions that Amanda won so there`s definitely a demand for that.
And I believe there`s a demand, at least in the UK and Ireland, for Taylor-Cameron III. We`ll try to make that happen.”
