Michael Chandler has finally commented on his fight against Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314, posting a brief message on social media on Monday. He left the octagon before the official result was announced.
The former UFC title contender lost to Pimblett in the third round by TKO. Pimblett took Chandler down and landed numerous elbows and punches, leading to the referee stopping the fight. This marks Chandler`s third consecutive loss and his record in the UFC now stands at 2-5.
While Chandler didn`t directly mention Pimblett or discuss the fight itself, he emphasized the importance of things outside of the UFC.
“Never out of the fight,” Chandler shared on Twitter, along with a photo. “This picture sums it all up. As long as I’ve got these heartbeats and hands to hold, I’ve already won.”
The picture Chandler posted was taken by his wife, Brie, and showed him holding hands with his son, who was present at the UFC event on Saturday night. Chandler also returned home to be with his newborn daughter, who was born shortly before his fight with Pimblett at UFC 314.
Being a father of three, Chandler has always prioritized his family above everything else, and this seems to be his main takeaway after a difficult night in his UFC career.
Regarding his future career plans, Chandler has not yet indicated what he intends to do after this setback against Pimblett.
Despite the loss, UFC CEO Dana White praised Chandler for his resilience and his commitment to exciting fights, comparing him to Arturo Gatti, a famous boxer known for his thrilling and intense matches.
