Megan Anderson: Open to Influencer Boxing, Not Interested in MMA Return

Former UFC featherweight contender Megan Anderson has expressed openness to participating in influencer boxing matches, but has no desire to return to mixed martial arts competition. The 35-year-old Australian fighter, who retired from MMA after her loss to Amanda Nunes in March 2021, now works as a commentator for Invicta FC.

In a recent interview, Anderson stated, “I have no intention of returning to MMA. I’m not even sure I could make the 145-pound weight limit anymore. However, I might consider an influencer boxing match in the future. I’ve recently started boxing for fun with my trainer, so it’s a possibility, albeit a small one.”

Anderson’s professional MMA career spanned from 2013 to 2021, during which she compiled a record of 10 wins and 5 losses, including 6 knockout victories. Notable achievements include a stoppage win over Norma Dumont in the UFC and a head kick knockout of Charmaine Tweet to claim the interim Invicta FC featherweight title.

Regarding potential boxing endeavors, Anderson clarified, “I’m not interested in professional boxing. Any boxing match I participate in would be more for entertainment purposes, nothing too serious. I’m not looking to face elite boxers like Claressa Shields. However, if the financial offer is right, who knows? At this point, I’m content with my current role in the sport.”

Anderson expressed satisfaction with her current position as an Invicta FC commentator, stating, “I love what I’m doing now. I achieved everything I wanted in MMA, and while it didn’t end as I hoped, transitioning to broadcasting has been fulfilling. I can still be involved in the sport I love and give back to the organization that helped launch my career.”

She added, “Being able to highlight and support up-and-coming female fighters is incredibly rewarding. I feel like a proud older sister watching these young athletes develop their careers. I’m always happy to offer advice and help in any way I can.”
