Maycee Barber Not Cleared, UFC Vegas 107 Main Event Cancelled

Sports news » Maycee Barber Not Cleared, UFC Vegas 107 Main Event Cancelled

The planned main event for UFC Vegas 107 between Maycee Barber and Erin Blanchfield was abruptly cancelled just minutes before the fighters were set to make their ring walks. The reason given was a last-minute medical issue suffered by Maycee Barber, leading to her not being medically cleared to participate.

The cancellation was announced right before Barber was scheduled to enter the cage.

This is a setback for Barber, who has been inactive since March 2024 due to health problems that have kept her sidelined for more than a year. This new emergency further postpones her return, with no clear timeline for her potential next fight.

After hearing about the cancellation, Blanchfield shared her reaction and what UFC officials communicated to her before the fight was called off.

Blanchfield quoted UFC executive Hunter Campbell, saying, “Hunter came in, he was saying that she was having a seizure and she’s having medical issues and she’s not going to be able to fight.” She added, “I knew once I saw him, it wasn’t something good because he was being real serious. I feel like I’m in a little disbelief.”

Before the event, Blanchfield had already voiced concerns regarding Barber`s history of health issues and whether she would be able to make it to the fight without complications.

Following the cancellation on Saturday, Blanchfield stated that she is no longer interested in rescheduling a fight with Barber in the future.

She quoted her coaches, who immediately advised her, “don’t entertain her, she’s not on your level.” Blanchfield herself added, “Super unprofessional.”
