Max Holloway often jokes about the Hawaiian-like reception he gets in Las Vegas, but South Korea might be a close second after his recent arrival.
The former UFC featherweight champion was met at the airport by his former opponent, “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung, and hundreds of enthusiastic fans.
Holloway was all smiles at the roaring welcome from the crowd as he stepped off the plane, where he plans to spend time training with “The Korean Zombie”.
Holloway has consistently praised “The Korean Zombie,” both before and after their 2023 fight, which was the final fight of Jung’s legendary career.
“This man’s a legend,” Holloway acknowledged after their match. “He’s called Korean Zombie for good reason. He’s truly a myth, a legend.”
While Jung is now retired and focused on his Z Fight Night series in South Korea, Holloway is preparing to move to the lightweight division after his featherweight loss to Ilia Topuria last October.
Holloway’s next opponent is yet to be confirmed, but there are rumors of a potential fight with Dustin Poirier later this year. Poirier has indicated his next fight will be his last, and a third match against Holloway could be a fitting farewell to his career.
In the meantime, Holloway is enjoying the warm welcome in South Korea.
