Mauricio Ruffy has emerged as a leading contender for Knockout of the Year after his spectacular finish.
The Brazilian fighter was heavily favored in his UFC 313 match against King Green, and he lived up to expectations by knocking Green out with a wheel kick to the head just two minutes into the first round. Ruffy’s knockout blow immediately sent Green crashing to the mat, leaving spectators in awe.
Matt Brown, a retired UFC veteran known for his own highlight finishes, declared Ruffy’s knockout as the “KO of the Year” in a social media post.
Brown praised the “beautiful setup and timing” of the strike.
UFC analyst Michael Chiesa simply reacted with astonishment, saying, “Holy f*cking shit.”
This victory improves Ruffy’s UFC record to 3-0, with two of those wins being first-round knockouts. Ruffy is quickly gaining recognition as a rising star alongside his teammates from The Fighting Nerds.
