Mathieu Germain is fully aware of the buzz surrounding Dalton Smith`s future plans. However, the quietly confident Canadian boxer is set to enter Sheffield with the intention of upsetting those plans. He believes his skills and strategic approach will be enough to defeat the local favorite.

Speaking at the pre-fight press conference, Germain stated that he has been waiting for a significant fight opportunity throughout his boxing career. Already in excellent condition, he feels that everything has come together at the perfect time for this match.

“I believe Dalton is a true professional fighter, but he might be distracted by future prospects,” Germain commented when questioned about whether he could pressure Smith and capitalize on potential distractions regarding future fights.

“Everyone here is talking about what comes after this fight, but I am here to fight now. I’m here to win. I recognize he`s a true professional and will attempt to stay focused on our match. He is a skilled fighter, competent in all aspects.”

“That`s precisely why I believe I have what it takes to beat him – because I am a smart fighter, and that`s my strength. I know he is a true champion, a dedicated and very good professional fighter. But I am in boxing to compete against the best fighters.”

Germain has studied footage from Smith`s previous 17 bouts. He has developed a strategy for the fight, but, typical of experienced fighters, he is keeping the details of his plan to himself at this stage.

“Of course, if I doubted my plan, I would discuss it with my coach beforehand. I genuinely believe we have a solid strategy, and we are going to execute it.”

When asked for a final prediction for the 12-round main event at Sheffield’s Canon Medical Arena for Smith’s WBC Silver super-lightweight title, Germain simply stated:

“The Win, that’s it.”
