UFC lightweight Mateusz Gamrot is expressing his displeasure with some of the fighters ranked in the division`s Top 15.
Despite holding the No. 7 spot in the UFC`s lightweight rankings, Gamrot has faced difficulties securing fights against other prominent names, even after frequently calling opponents out. A recent disappointment for Gamrot was hearing that the No. 1 contender, Arman Tsarukyan, reportedly turned down a main event slot for the upcoming July card in Abu Dhabi, particularly notable given Gamrot`s previous victory over Tsarukyan.
However, it appears Tsarukyan isn`t the only fighter Gamrot believes is avoiding him.
On Monday, Gamrot publicly criticized the No. 13 ranked Benoit Saint Denis, accusing him of rejecting a short-notice fight offer for this Saturday`s UFC 315 event. Saint Denis was scheduled to open the main card against Joel Alvarez, but Alvarez withdrew from the bout due to a hand injury, and the UFC has not yet announced a replacement. Gamrot claims he offered to step in but was refused.
Expressing his frustration, Gamrot posted on social media: “BSD turned down the fight next week, what’s wrong with you guys? Grow some balls, cowards!”
It`s not all negative news for Gamrot, though. “Gamer” is currently slated to compete later this month against unranked Ludovit Klein in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 107. Klein has been impressive since returning to the 155-pound division, boasting a record of six wins and one majority draw.
