Matchroom Looks to Fisher vs. Adeleye-TKV 2 Winner After Allen Bout

Fan-favorite heavyweight Johnny Fisher could potentially earn a shot at the British title if he successfully navigates his bout against seasoned operator Dave Allen this Saturday.

The two fighters are set to clash at the Copper Box Arena in London, following their initial encounter where Fisher (13-0, 11 KOs) secured a highly debated split decision victory.

Despite scoring a knockdown in the fifth round and dominating large portions towards the end, Allen (23-7-2, 18 KOs) ultimately felt aggrieved by the scoring of two judges from their fight last December.

Now, both competitors have the opportunity to settle their score, with Fisher aiming to definitively prove his standing in the domestic scene.

However, should he overcome what promises to be another stern challenge, it appears the tests ahead for ‘The Romford Bull’ are unlikely to get any easier.

With David Adeleye and Jeamie TKV expected to have a rematch later this year, Matchroom CEO Frank Smith has identified the winner as a “sensible” potential opponent for Fisher.

Their controversial fight last month saw Adeleye (14-1, 13 KOs) claim the vacant British title via a sixth-round stoppage, a result that faced significant scrutiny shortly after.

The incident occurred when the 28-year-old landed a sharp left hook while disengaging from a clinch – moments after the referee had called “break” – leaving TKV (8-2, 5 KOs) unable to continue.

Meanwhile, Olympic bronze medalist Frazer Clarke has also expressed interest in fighting Fisher, although the Boxxer-promoted fighter seems a less probable option at this time.

For Frank Smith, a British title challenge represents the clear next phase in Fisher`s career, and should Adeleye emerge victorious, improved working relations between Matchroom and Queensberry would likely facilitate the process.

“I believe right now, the winner of [Adeleye-TKV 2] is probably the most logical fight after this one [against Allen],” Smith stated.

“Fisher has to get through Saturday night – it`s going to be a true test – but I am confident that he will [win].”

“Frazer [Clarke] has competed at a higher level with Fabio [Wardley], you could say, so I think the winner of [Adeleye-TKV 2] is likely the correct fight in terms of next steps.”
