Luana Santos has officially cemented her place in the UFC record books.
In a preliminary women`s bantamweight clash at UFC Vegas 106, held at the UFC APEX on Saturday, Santos faced Tainara Lisboa. With mere seconds remaining in the second round, Santos executed an Americana submission, forcing Lisboa to tap out. This marked a historic moment, as it was the first time this specific submission technique had been successfully applied in a UFC women`s fight.
This bout was Santos`s first outing since her decision loss to Casey O’Neill at UFC 305 in August. Prior to that defeat, the 25-year-old fighter had been on a winning streak, securing victories in her initial three octagon appearances, including stoppage wins over Mariya Agapova and Juliana Miller. Her current record stands at 6-1 in her last seven fights.
Tainara Lisboa entered the fight undefeated within the UFC ranks. However, her perfect promotional record came to an end with this loss, which also snapped her overall five-fight winning streak.
