Lenar Perez is set to face Aleksei Egorov for the IBA Intercontinental Pro cruiserweight title on April 27. The bout will take place in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and will be streamed live on the Boxing News YouTube channel, following closely after the Pavel Sosulin versus Lucas Bastida stream on April 25. The event is scheduled to commence on Sunday.
The Cuban-born Perez boasts a formidable professional record, having knocked out all 14 of his opponents since turning pro in 2018. His career has seen him compete across various locations in Europe. The 27-year-old now steps up to challenge the more experienced 33-year-old Egorov, who has encountered defeats when competing at higher levels.
Despite Perez`s perfect knockout record, Egorov has generally faced a better standard of opposition throughout his career. Perez, originally from Holguin City, has built his record primarily against lower-level contenders, though he has secured knockout wins against previously undefeated fighters such as Rashid Kodzoev (8-0) and Rosmen Brito (11-0), finishing the latter in the first round.
Egorov`s resume includes challenging then-WBA cruiserweight champion Arsen Goulamirian in France in 2022, where he lasted the full 12 rounds and won several sessions. Last year in Moscow, he was stopped in the 11th round by Brandon Glanton. This demonstrated resilience suggests that Egorov could potentially make the fight challenging for Perez if the bout extends beyond the early rounds.
