Kieron Conway aims to boost his standing in the 160lbs division when he faces Gerome Warburton on May 17.
Their compelling match will be part of the undercard for the heavyweight rematch between Johnny Fisher and Dave Allen. The event will be held at the Copper Box Arena in London, England.
Conway, with a record of 22 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw, and 6 knockouts, earned his chance to compete for the vacant British middleweight title. Denzel Bentley was the previous holder of this title. Conway secured this opportunity after a close split decision victory over Ryan Kelly last November.
Prior to that, the boxer from Northampton demonstrated a dominant performance by stopping Ainiwaer Yilixiati in Japan. This win followed another decisive stoppage against Linus Udofia in 2023.
As a result, the 28-year-old Conway has maintained an undefeated streak since his unanimous decision loss to Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams. His only other professional defeats were against Souleymane Cissokho and Derrick Osaze.
However, Warburton, with a record of 15 wins, 1 loss, 2 draws, and 2 knockouts, hopes to disrupt Conway`s plans. Warburton previously drew with Ryan Kelly last year, who is also an opponent of Conway.
The 29-year-old Warburton achieved a significant victory against Aaron Sutton in early 2024. This win has placed him in a strong position to be considered for a shot at the prestigious Lonsdale Belt.
Interestingly, Sutton will also be fighting on the same Matchroom Boxing event next month. He is scheduled to face George Liddard, a promising British middleweight prospect.
Adding to the excitement at 160lbs, Jimmy Sains, known for his powerful punches, will also be on the card. He will compete against Gideon Onyenani for the vacant Southern Area middleweight title.
With significant middleweight action lined up, both Liddard and Sains, who are both trained by Tony Sims, will be looking to extend their perfect records with impressive performances.
