Jon Jones Teases Easy Fight Upon UFC Return

Sports news ยป Jon Jones Teases Easy Fight Upon UFC Return

Jon Jones`s fighting future is uncertain, but one constant for fans is his unwavering confidence.

The UFC heavyweight champion has been active on social media while traveling globally, recently hinting that his future career plans are already known to the UFC. The 37-year-old hasn`t competed since successfully defending his title against Stipe Miocic last November, marking only his second fight since 2020.

A major question surrounding the future UFC Hall of Famer is whether he will ever face interim champion Tom Aspinall. Aspinall, 32, has frequently called for a title unification bout, but Jones has rarely shown reciprocal interest.

In his latest social media dig, “Bones” shared an Instagram story featuring a calm dog easily handling a much noisier one in a wrestling match. He captioned it: “What I feel like returning to the UFC after some much-needed downtime.”

This post is a clear jab at Aspinall, whom Jones has often stated isn`t qualified to fight him. Aspinall holds an 8-1 UFC record and recently dominated Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304, avenging his only professional loss. This marked Aspinall`s first interim title defense, matching Jones`s total number of successful heavyweight title defenses (one).

Before moving up in weight, Jones dominated the light heavyweight division for over a decade, solidifying his status as one of the sport`s greatest fighters. He claimed the vacant heavyweight title (left open by Francis Ngannou) at UFC 285, submitting Ciryl Gane in impressive fashion.

Aspinall recently mentioned on a podcast that he`s tired of pursuing the fight with Jones and is prepared to move on to seek other opponents.
