Even a fighter widely considered among the greatest, Jon Jones, wouldn`t tackle a silverback gorilla alone.
A peculiar online debate ignited by a viral tweet asks if 100 people could defeat one gorilla, attracting comments from many, including UFC Bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili, who boasted he could do it solo.
Despite holding the UFC Heavyweight title, Jones states he would absolutely require help for such a challenge.
Speaking to TMZ, Jones asserted, “One hundred men definitely beats up a gorilla.” He reasoned, “Given human intelligence, we`ve conquered the planet. So the animals shouldn`t be a problem to us.”
He clarified, “Definitely not solo. I would need a lot of help.” Jones suggested assembling “a bunch of guys from the NFL roster, a bunch of heavier guys from the UFC roster,” stating they “would have that thing down in no time.” He then volunteered, “Let me lead the pack. I’d like to be part of the first wave if we did that.”
Amusingly, the frequently discussed strategy for the humans involves the first individuals being sacrificed to the gorilla`s might before the overwhelming number of attackers subdues it.
This potential outcome didn`t deter Jones from offering to be at the forefront of the group.
Despite his willingness to participate, Jones found the whole scenario quite humorous, particularly given that gorillas typically don`t initiate conflicts with people.
He concluded, “I`d love to be one of the 100. I think it`s such a funny topic. Everyone`s so serious about fighting this damn gorilla. What did the gorilla do to us? What did he do? It`s a funny debate.”
