British heavyweight boxers Johnny Fisher and David Allen are scheduled for a rematch, five months after their exciting and debated first fight in Riyadh.
They will headline Matchroom Boxing’s event on May 17 at the Copper Box Arena. A victory is crucial for Fisher to pursue larger boxing opportunities.
Fisher aims to replicate his previous success at the Copper Box, recalling his first-round knockout of Alen Babic last summer.
On December 21, Fisher and Allen previously clashed for 10 rounds on the undercard of Usyk vs. Fury. Their bout surprised many, becoming a contender for fight of the night, even surpassing the main event in excitement for some.
Despite a career-best performance, Allen didn’t secure the win in their first encounter, with many observers believing he deserved it. The judges’ scores were split, with Fisher winning by majority decision (95-94, 95-94, and 93-96 for Allen), allowing Fisher to maintain his undefeated record at 13-0 (11 KOs).
“I’m thrilled to headline my second sold-out show at the Copper Box Arena on May 17,” Fisher stated in a Matchroom press release.
Allen, with a record of 32-7-2 (18 KOs), commented, “I appreciate this great opportunity. Headlining two events in London is significant for someone from a small village in Doncaster. This time, I’m determined to win.”
