Jeremy Stephens Aims for Big Payday as Free Agent Following BKFC Triumph
After his impressive victory over Eddie Alvarez at BKFC KnuckleMania 5, Jeremy Stephens finds himself in a favorable position as a free agent. The former UFC veteran is now exploring his options, leveraging his recent success to secure a lucrative contract.
Stephens took a calculated risk by not renewing his contract with BKFC prior to the fight against Alvarez. His gamble paid off, as he delivered a stellar performance that resulted in breaking Alvarez’s jaw and forcing a stoppage in the third round.
“I took a significant risk,” Stephens explained. “I declined to sign a new contract, even though it offered a substantial payday. I knew that this fight could lead to even greater opportunities.”
The event, which set a new combat sports attendance record, saw Stephens facing a hostile Philadelphia crowd throughout the week. Despite the challenges, he emerged victorious and is now seeking appropriate compensation for his efforts.
Stephens expressed his desire for a significant increase in pay, stating, “I’m not accepting pay cuts anymore. I’ve proven my worth and it’s time for a secure, substantial contract.”
While Stephens is open to various opportunities, including a potential return to the UFC, he has maintained a positive relationship with BKFC. He praised BKFC president David Feldman for being a man of his word and expressed his fondness for the promotion.
“I’ve had great conversations with David Feldman,” Stephens said. “My only request is for more communication. I hope they recognize that I’m not just here for the checks, but for bigger opportunities. I want to make those million-dollar paydays.”
As Stephens explores his options, he remains optimistic about his future in combat sports, whether it be with BKFC or another organization willing to meet his financial expectations.
