Jean Silva put on a dominant performance on Saturday night, defeating Bryce Mitchell with a ninja choke submission in their highly anticipated UFC 314 fight.
After a measured start, Silva found his rhythm, effectively striking Mitchell and defending against all takedown attempts. In the second round, Silva knocked Mitchell down and continued his attack, eventually locking in a ninja choke that forced Mitchell to tap out just as he lost consciousness.
The fight concluded at 3:52 of the second round.
“I’m the next champion!” Silva exclaimed. “I was surprised by the glove touch. I feel for Bryce Mitchell and hope he gets the help he needs because I don’t think he’s quite right.”
Mitchell started with high energy and landed a couple of good kicks, but Silva remained composed. Although initially measured, Silva began to display more effective offense as the first round progressed.
Silva then unleashed a spinning heel kick and a guillotine choke attempt right before the end of the first round, putting Mitchell in serious danger.
In the second round, Silva established control and dropped Mitchell with a powerful right hand. Opting to keep the fight standing, Silva continued to strike.
Mitchell became increasingly desperate with takedown attempts, but Silva easily defended them. Utilizing superior speed and power, Silva punished Mitchell with strikes before capitalizing on a grappling exchange to secure the ninja choke.
Mitchell tried to escape the choke by rolling, but this only tightened Silva`s grip, leading to Mitchell`s submission and unconsciousness moments later.
Following his pre-fight callout of Mitchell, Silva delivered on his promise at UFC 314. He is now a significant threat in the featherweight division, boasting a 5-0 UFC record, with all wins by knockout or submission.
