Ismael Bonfim Emerges Unscathed from UFC Vegas 102 Setback
Following his defeat at UFC Vegas 102 on Saturday night, Ismael Bonfim underwent medical examination at a local hospital. Fortunately, the results showed no significant facial injuries, according to reliable sources.
The match was halted by the ringside physician after the first round when Bonfim reported vision problems in his right eye due to lacerations caused by a well-placed kick from his opponent, Nazim Sadykhov. This resulted in a technical knockout victory for Sadykhov, who now boasts an impressive 3-0-1 record in the UFC.
Odair Bonfim, Ismael’s brother and coach, confirmed to reporters that Ismael is “doing well” and sustained only superficial cuts without any bone fractures. Ismael himself took to social media on Sunday morning to update his fans.
“I’m grateful to be okay,” Bonfim stated. “The eye and head scans came back clear. There’s just a cut on my cheek and eyelid. My vision was impaired, which led to the doctor’s decision to end the fight.”
This loss brings Bonfim’s professional record to 20-5, with a 2-2 standing in the UFC. It marks his first defeat by technical knockout.
Reflecting on the match, Bonfim commented, “Our game plan was unfolding well, and I felt confident and in control. However, credit where it’s due – my opponent landed an impressive kick that caught me squarely in the face.”
