Ignacio Bahomondes, known for his striking prowess, demonstrated his grappling skills by securing a swift submission victory over Jalin Turner at UFC 313. He finished the fight with a remarkable triangle choke.
Despite a strong start on his feet, Bahomondes found himself on the ground as Turner attempted a takedown. However, this strategy backfired. Bahomondes quickly transitioned, wrapping his legs around Turner’s head and arm, and swiftly locked in a tight triangle choke.
Turner was forced to tap out, ending the fight in the first round.
“I’m a grappler now,” Bahomondes jokingly stated after his win. “I knew I was going to submit him. I predicted a first-round submission in interviews. I felt it, even dreamt about it. Whatever opponent brings me closer to the belt is who I want next.”
At the fight’s beginning, Turner took control of the cage center and advanced, while Bahomondes responded with sharp kicks. Turner then attempted a takedown, aiming to showcase his improved grappling skills after a previous disappointing UFC 300 performance.
Although the takedown started positively, Bahomondes quickly scrambled and executed the triangle choke. Once secured, Turner had no option but to submit.
This victory marks Bahomondes’ third consecutive win, and his record stands at 6-1 in his last seven fights. He is now likely to face ranked opponents in his future matches.
Following the defeat, Turner removed his gloves, suggesting potential retirement after this disappointing performance. This loss comes after an 11-month break and puts him in a challenging position after UFC 313.
This loss brings Turner’s record to 1-4 in his last five fights.
