Deontay Wilder is making a comeback, potentially impacting the heavyweight landscape. However, his recent performance indicates his peak might be behind him. Tonight, `The Bronze Bomber` steps back into the ring to demonstrate he can still compete at the highest level.
Deontay Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KOs) held the WBC heavyweight title for more than five years, securing knockout victories in all nine of his title defenses before suffering a stoppage loss to Tyson Fury in 2020.
The defeat against `The Gypsy King` marked the beginning of a difficult period for the Tuscaloosa native. Now aged 39, Wilder finds himself outside the immediate title picture, having lost four of his last five bouts.
Consequently, Wilder`s record shows only one victory since 2019. Tonight, he aims to recapture that winning feeling and generate some much-needed momentum against Tyrrell Herndon (24-5, 15 KOs) from Texas, who has been stopped on four occasions.
The Wilder vs. Herndon fight is the featured bout at the Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas. Spectators unable to attend can watch the card via a live stream on BLK Prime.
While many expected this event to be pay-per-view, similar to the Crawford-Avanesyan fight on the same platform in 2022, it is instead included as part of a standard BLK Prime subscription, priced at $6.99 per month.
