Hamzah Sheeraz is expected to have a super-middleweight fight with Edgar Berlanga. This fight is planned to be part of the undercard for the Shakur Stevenson versus William Zepeda event.
Boxing journalist Mike Coppinger reports that this event, featuring Stevenson`s WBC lightweight title defense, is scheduled for July 12 in New York.
While the exact location hasn`t been officially announced yet, it has been confirmed via social media as a `Ring Magazine 3` card.
The main event, Stevenson against Zepeda, was arranged after Stevenson and Turki Alalshikh resolved their public disagreements. This allowed Zepeda, the mandatory challenger, to get his chance to fight for the title.
Sheeraz, a former world middleweight title contender now coached by Andy Lee, aims to make a strong start in the super-middleweight division.
After a draw against WBC titleholder Carlos Adames in February, Sheeraz needs to prove he can compete at the highest level.
Berlanga is his opponent. Berlanga has a record of 23 wins and 1 loss, with 18 knockouts. He has only secured one knockout victory since losing to Canelo Alvarez last year.
Another exciting fight on the card is a super-lightweight match between WBC champion Alberto Puello and former IBF champion Subriel Matias. Both fighters are known for their exciting styles.
David Morrell is also expected to fight against Imam Khataev, an undefeated light-heavyweight boxer.
Morrell is looking to regain momentum after his loss to David Benavidez in February, and Khataev is expected to be a challenging but winnable opponent for his comeback fight.
