Melquizael Costa`s decision victory against Julian Erosa at UFC Vegas 106 appears even more remarkable in light of what happened.

Despite securing his fourth consecutive victory and third win this year in the featherweight main card opener at UFC Vegas 106, Melquizael Costa`s triumph came at a cost.

Shortly after the fight, UFC CEO Dana White posted a video on Instagram revealing a severe laceration on Costa`s toe. The footage, described as graphic, showed not just a surface cut, but the internal tissue exposed when the wound was gently separated.

Fortunately, White also confirmed that the significant wound on Costa`s toe was closed with stitches.

Dubbed “Melk Cauthy”, Costa has quickly established himself as a formidable presence in the competitive featherweight division, achieving three victories in just 85 days. His recent wins include a decision over Christian Rodriguez at UFC Mexico and back-to-back submissions against seasoned fighters Andre Fili and Shayilan Nuerdanbieke.

His UFC record now stands at 5-2, with his only losses occurring against Steve Garcia and Thiago Moises, the latter happening during his short-notice promotional debut.
