Gregory Rodrigues Reveals Unique Preparation Method for UFC Vegas 102 Bout Against Jared Cannonier
Brazilian middleweight contender Gregory Rodrigues has adopted an unusual approach to prepare for his upcoming main event fight against Jared Cannonier at UFC Vegas 102. The fighter, nicknamed “Robocop,” has plastered photos of Cannonier throughout his home as part of his mental preparation strategy.
Rodrigues explained, “I’ve placed Cannonier’s pictures in various locations around my house – the living room, bathroom, and near the exit. It’s everywhere except my daughter’s room and my bedroom. This helps me familiarize myself with my opponent and maintain focus on my goal.”
This unique tactic was suggested by Rodrigues’ friend and “spiritual brother,” Duda, and has been embraced by his family. Even his young daughter has gotten involved, creating a playful song about Cannonier’s impending defeat.
Rodrigues, who has won his last three UFC fights, sees this bout as a significant opportunity to climb the middleweight rankings. He stated, “Defeating Cannonier will put me in an excellent position to challenge higher-ranked opponents and eventually compete for the title.”
The Brazilian fighter expressed respect for Cannonier’s experience but remained confident in his abilities. “I’m preparing for his best, but I believe I have the tools to finish him, whether by knockout or on the ground,” Rodrigues asserted.
As his first UFC main event, Rodrigues is excited about the opportunity to showcase his skills against a veteran like Cannonier, who has faced numerous top-tier opponents in his career. The fight promises to be an intriguing matchup between a rising contender and an established name in the middleweight division.
