Undefeated super-featherweight prospect Ryan Garner is scheduled to face British and Commonwealth champion Reece Bellotti on July 26. The highly anticipated bout is expected to take place at the Bournemouth International Centre, the same venue where Garner (17-0, 8 KOs) secured his EBU European title with a dominant points victory over Salvador Jimenez in March. While Jimenez didn`t pose a significant threat, Garner displayed his technical skills in claiming the vacant belt.
This upcoming clash is considered a much tougher test for the 27-year-old Garner, as he takes on the experienced Reece Bellotti (20-5, 15 KOs), nicknamed `The Piranha`. Bellotti`s recent form has been strong; he won his titles with a unanimous decision against Liam Dillon last year and has since delivered impressive defenses, notably stopping Michael Gomez Jr. in the 10th round after a performance praised for its ring intelligence and clinical finishing.
Garner has also built a strong domestic record, including convincing points wins over Liam Dillon and Archie Sharp in the past year. Before his EBU title win, there was talk from promoter Frank Warren about a potential fight for Garner at St Mary`s Stadium, home to Southampton FC. However, those plans appear to be on hold, with Garner now focused on defending his European title as he continues his progression towards the world stage.
This meeting between Garner and Bellotti is widely expected to be a thrilling, action-packed encounter between two skilled super-featherweights.
