Conor McGregor maintains that his fighting career is not finished, despite increasing negative sentiment from fans.

This seems to be the prevailing view based on reactions to McGregor`s recent statement, where he claimed he would only return for a stadium event and mentioned still having “unfinished business” with his long-standing rival, Michael Chandler.

Following a clip from WWE`s WrestleMania event held recently at the 65,000-seat Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, McGregor tweeted, “I`ll only come back to a stadium.” He subsequently stirred discussion about a potential fight with Chandler.

A matchup between the two has been speculated for years. Chandler has frequently called McGregor out, they coached opposite each other on The Ultimate Fighter 31, and a planned fight at UFC 303 last June was cancelled after McGregor suffered an injury.

McGregor`s last fight was in July 2021 at UFC 264, where he broke his leg fighting Dustin Poirier.

Since then, his return has faced numerous delays due to the injury, various business and entertainment projects, political interests in Ireland, and several legal problems, including being found liable for sexual assault in November related to a 2018 incident in Dublin.

It`s clear that fans are not eagerly anticipating the former two-division UFC champion`s return to fighting (assuming it ever happens).
